My Circle

odd circle

I drew my first circle when I was three

with a number two pencil

and a piece of cardstock.

I stared hard

pressed as hard a three year old could press

and looped around

Until the ends just barely touched.

Some days

my circle got rounder.

and wider.

Other times,

my lines were sharp.

and closed in distance

Until the center was nearly on the edge.

In those times,

I think I was

on

the

brink

as

well.
