Magic Mirror Messages

Activity Summary:

Kids decorate a mirror in the house with positive messages to themselves and their family members. It’s like a daily pep talk they create with their own words, drawings, or quotes. Great for building emotional awareness and spreading love around the house!

🧰 What You’ll Need:

  • A bathroom or bedroom mirror

  • Sticky notes or scrap paper & tape

  • Markers or crayons

  • Optional: fun washi tape, glitter pens, stickers

🪞 How It Works:

  1. Set the Stage:
Tell your child: “This mirror is now magic—it shows what’s on the inside too!” Let them pick a mirror and start by writing or drawing one message that makes someone feel good. (Example: “You’re smart and kind!” or “Hi, cutie pie!”)

  2. Make It a Daily Habit:
Every morning or evening, encourage them to add a new message to the mirror. It can be:

    • A compliment to themselves

    • A kind message to a sibling or parent

    • A joke or silly doodle to make someone smile

  3. Mirror Missions (Optional Game):
Turn it into a weekly game:

    • Monday: Write something kind about someone else

    • Wednesday: Draw a feeling face and label it

    • Friday: Add your favorite quote or affirmation

  4. Mirror Clean-Up & Reset:
Every week, clean the mirror together and talk about the messages. Which ones felt the best? Want to save any in a “Kindness Journal”?

🧠 Why It’s Great:

  • Boosts emotional literacy

  • Encourages daily gratitude and positive thinking

  • Strengthens family bonds

  • Makes mornings more fun!
